Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field. Three (3) years of full-time experience in data analysis. Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field. Experience in data analysis and visualization, specifically with Tableau and R Shiny. Experience with EHR systems and healthcare data privacy regulations. Experience in programming languages and database systems (R, Python, SQL, SAS). Brief Description of Duties:
Stony Brook University's Office of Scientific Affairs invites applications for a Research Data Analyst position. This role is pivotal in supporting grant activities, offering data brokerage services for electronic health records, and enhancing research capabilities through advanced data analysis techniques. The ideal candidate will possess a robust skill set in data science, with a particular emphasis on Tableau and R Shiny for data visualization and interactive reporting, alongside a strong foundation in managing and interpreting large datasets. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and report writing. Ability to multitask and adapt in a dynamic research environment. Duties:

  • Data Analysis and Visualization:
  • Perform sophisticated data analyses using statistical software and programming languages.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau and R Shiny.
  • Extract meaningful insights from complex datasets to inform research and decision-making.
  • Grant Support and Management:
  • Assist in compiling and analyzing data for grant proposals, emphasizing compelling visualizations.
  • Track and report on the progress of grant-funded projects, ensuring data accuracy and coherence.
  • Leverage data analytics to enhance the impact and effectiveness of research proposals.
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR) Data Handling:
  • Oversee the management and analysis of EHR data, adhering to compliance standards.
  • Facilitate access to EHR data for research purposes, ensuring ethical use and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to meet data needs for research initiatives.
  • Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration:
  • Engage with various research teams, providing expertise in data science and analytics.
  • Contribute to research projects by offering robust data analytical support and insights.
  • Foster a collaborative environment across different academic and research disciplines.
  • Professional Development and Skill Enhancement:
  • Stay updated with the latest trends in data science, Tableau, R Shiny, and EHR systems.
  • Continuously develop and refine skills in data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Ethical Compliance and Data Security:
  • Uphold the highest standards of data management, ensuring adherence to ethical and legal requirements.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
