Amazon ML Data Operations Manager (ML Annotation/Testing), Customer Engagement Technologies (CET) in Seattle, Washington

We are seeking an experienced ML Data Operations Manager with a background in ML Annotation and Customer Service to join the Customer Engagement Technology (CET) Organization. Supporting CET's Machine Learning Data Associate (MLDA) team you will be responsible for leading a high-visibility team that directly impacts the customer experience globally. Your team will provide operational support for the delivery of complex machine learning projects focused around ML annotation, LLM QA testing, and NLP. In this role you will be seen as a thought leader and innovator within the organization, helping to drive towards our teams goals and foster community within our tech organization.

In this role, you must have a collaborative work style, an innovative mindset, and an unparalleled work ethic. You also have an excellent record of complex project and program delivery, from conception and design through implementation, measurement, closure and handover.

Key job responsibilities

• Act as STL of the MLDA Operational Support team, overseeing all aspects E2E project delivery and stakeholder management.

• Collect business and systems requirements working with internal and external customers.

• Collect and analyze team level metrics and KPIs to identify areas of opportunity within our operational efficiency.

• Define and execute the project plan from design to release, securing resources, and managing implementation.

• Clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes.

• Liaise with all departments to ensure relevant areas are engaged in time to develop deliverables within their area to support project deliverables.

• Consult with program leadership to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market delivery.

• Manage multiple internal and external, cross functional and remote stakeholders.

• Develop change processes associated with program rollout and ongoing support.

• Track delivery against program objectives and implement proposals to improve program services and efficiencies.

• Scale initiatives to expand coverage of existing services or programs to additional domestic and international locations.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Operational Support related project management experience

  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • 2+ years of experience in ML annotation

  • Experience managing mid-sized teams (10+ team members)

  • Experience developing and implementing strategic road maps across an organization

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, vlookups) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

Bachelors degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Operational Support related project management experience

  • 5+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • 3+ years of experience in ML annotations

  • Experience managing large organizations

  • Experience defining and implementing operational improvement initiatives across an organization

  • Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, vlookups) at an advanced level and SQL

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $77,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $166,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
