Position Description

The Field Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of the entire union workforce executing the Terminal's product movements. These movements may start or end at an above ground storage tank, marine vessel, tank car, tank truck, or pipeline. Various air pollution control devices, leak detection, and waste control protocols are managed by the incumbent. Kinder Morgan Perth Amboy Terminal is a marine bulk storage terminal that conducts bulk liquid (petroleum and chemical) and dry bulk product movements 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This job is subject to regulation by various agencies including the Department of Transportation (DOT) and US Coast Guard.

The Field Supervisor reports to the Field Operations Manager and supports the Control Room.
Responsible for supervising safe and efficient field operations for a shift of Terminal Operators (4 to 10 personnel).
Responsible for understanding and coordinating all product movements with the Control Room.
Responsible for expeditious dock operations.
Ensure adequate personnel are scheduled to perform required work in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Account for vacations and other absences.
Ensure all operations personnel are working in a safe manner, wearing proper PPE, and following the Company's Safety, Quality, and Environmental program. The goal is to maintain a zero incident rate.
Provide vacation coverage for other supervisors as required.
Maintain qualifications, and as a proctor/evaluator, assist with the training of operations personnel.
Assist in creating and implementing procedures within Operations.
Review procedures and processes with all operations personnel to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Conduct daily safety walks and talks with all operations personnel; participate in the Company's daily Safety, Quality, and Environmental process.
Conduct first line troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on facility equipment.
Maintain and supervise dock, loading rack, conveyor, and pipeline operations. Routinely supervise personnel in the execution of these operations to ensure safe and efficient operation in accordance with procedures.
Supervise alignment and set up of tanks, pumps, and pipelines for the transfer of products to and from ships, barge, railcar and tank trucks.
Ensure all field assets meet regulatory requirements. Report shortcomings to Maintenance and management.
Conduct daily inspections of containment and outfall areas and equipment; heated tanks; boilers; and outbound railcars. The incumbent must possess a valid High Pressure Black Seal Boiler Operator's License.
Coordinate with maintenance to troubleshoot, repair and maintain all equipment; including the MVR, pumps, filters, loading racks, and valves.
Complete all operational documentation accurately, neatly and efficiently.
Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and control room personnel for major construction upgrades.
Issue daily work permits and review Job Hazard Analysis submissions.
Initiate, lead, and participate in incident investigations.
Ensure proper payroll coding and tenant labor forms are accurate, complete, and submitted to appropriate departments.
Maintain clean and safe operational areas.
Assist customer service in movement of work orders and KPI records.
Answer after hours calls and respond to the terminal as needed.
Maintain a performance management program on all direct reports; coach, mentor, and correct their actions on a routine basis.
Provide weekly summary of work completed and improvements made.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum requirements and any additional preferred education or training:
Applicable industry experience preferred.
Associates degree or higher is desirable.
High Pressure Black Seal Boiler Operator's License required.

Must be punctual, dependable, self-motivated, and have well developed communication skills.
Excellent math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions) are required. Operating pipelines requires exacting skill.
Willing to take on other duties as needed without assignment.
Work additional hours as needed/required.
Professionally develop employees and manage their performance.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Maintain regular dependable attendance and high level of performance.
Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, working at heights of up to 60 feet, walking up and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carry up to 50 pounds-in all weather conditions.
Must be able to wear standard PPE (Hard Hat, Goggles, Rain Gear, Steel Toe Boots), and qualify to wear a Full Face Respirator.
Required to complete a company sponsored Pipeline Hydraulics training course along with other relevant courses and maintain a 80% or above assessment...
