From your PASSION to ours

The Sanitation Supervisor manages, supervises and coordinates activities with food safety and sanitation programs in a food manufacturing environment. The position is responsible for management of plant cleaning, sanitation, and compliance with GMP’s, USDA & safety practices, sanitation policies and procedures. Sanitation supervisors reports to the Site Sanitation Manager.

Key responsibilities for this position include

  • Supervises adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices regarding sanitation procedures.

  • Monitors and audits, proposing adjustments as necessary to processing and packaging equipment cleaning systems/procedures to ensure optimal cleanliness.

  • Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory sanitation food quality and food safety standards as well as employee safety and environmental standards.

  • Works closely with management and production personnel on sanitation problems; recommending changes to improve sanitation policies, procedures, and cleaning effectiveness.

  • Performs comprehensive sanitation audits on each unique production process to determine sanitation effectiveness. Communicates reports/trends/issues regarding inspections, sanitation deviations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies via e-mail. Participates in sanitation and/or quality weekly meetings.

  • Conducts training programs for all sanitation procedures/ topics and is responsible for the development and training of sanitation personnel in coordination with production. In room training & on the floor.

  • Understands chemical specifications and their effectiveness/proper application for different processing/packaging equipment SSOP’s.

  • Conducts scheduled sanitation validation audits, inspecting critical processing and packaging equipment to ensure proper clean ability/sanitization.

  • Participation as needed in commissioning of new equipment and process expansion. Monitor progress of CIP validation completion on site.

  • Helps to ensure appropriate coverage of sanitation on site.

  • Helps maintaining and revising departmental procedures including the master sanitation schedule and SSOP’s reflecting process improvements that maintain or improve pre-operational and operational hygienic conditions.

  • Reviews and maintains sanitation documentation for Quality Assurance and regulatory review. Work with Quality team.

  • Helps develop cost savings for chemical usage/ monitor chemical waste and look at opportunities to improve cleaning time and efficiency/ save chemicals when possible.

  • Builds partnerships with production, quality, and human resources to ensure production and people’s goals are met.

  • Works with a positive mindset & promotes a p ositive work environment.

  • Follow up: Waste Disposal Monitoring – Plant Water Sampling – CIP Rinse water as needed.

  • Checking Master Sanitation Plan with the departments; adjusting if necessary.

Education-Required

  • High school diploma/ GED

Experience

  • Experience of leading/ supervising sanitation team in the food & beverage industry; and/or experience with quality supervision/ management specific to the dairy industry.

  • Specialized Knowledge

  • Chemicals/ Cleaning in place/ Cleaning out place/ Membrane cleaning/ Evaporators cleaning/ Dairy- cheese process.

  • Skills / Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.

  • Continuous improvement: looking for ways to continuously improve quality.

  • Work closely with production & quality to improve sanitation/ micro compliance. Using Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Reporting activities, communication skills, knows to work with autonomy & inside a team.

  • Critical thinking/ Root cause analysis.

  • Work safely and promote safety practices and behaviors.

  • Follow up with chemical providers.
