About you and this role

The successful candidate is expected to drive the growth of Packaging and Specialty Plastics (P&SP) business mainly in Flexible packaging, molded articles, or consumer durables via focus on application development, grow the innovation pipeline and develop new technology platforms by offering differentiated solutions to maximize value for customers. The responsibilities include building technical relationships, identifying growth opportunities at customers, conducting successful trials, and technically qualifying Dow products at external partners and customers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure opportunities for new application developments are identified; participate in development efforts thereafter leading the process of introduction at target customers.

• Identifies performance requirements for new applications and further develops applications in close cooperation with colleagues in the R&D function; participates in market introduction in close cooperation with the commercial function and TS&D.

• Project management and co-ordination of the technical aspects on business projects related to product applications or customers. Is responsible for setting goals & milestones & identifying barriers in these projects and communicating these within the organization.

• Project & opportunity evaluation and exploration in specified application areas. Also requires development activities in application areas that may be new to Dow’s businesses.

• Customer/Account interfaces on technical aspects of the projects and internally interface with R&D and the Sales/Marketing functions.

• Follow technology evolution and performance requirements of products, fabrication and end-use and translate into development project proposals.

• Build and maintain expertise in all relevant fabrication processes and establish selected personal contacts with equipment manufacturers.Monitor competitive product quality and technology development.

Qualifications

• M.Tech/Ph.D degree in Polymer Science/Engineering or Chemical Engineering.

• 5-10 years’ work experience with good understanding of polymer/material science is preferred

• Knowledge of flexible and durable packaging industry, product design and compounding is an advantage.

• Broad knowledge of fabrication techniques like Co-extrusion (Blown/Cast), Laminations, Moldings, and Extrusion Coatings will be valuable.

• A good understanding of Petrochemical Industry and of Polyolefins will be valuable.

Preferred Skills

• The candidate will also have exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills, be familiar with computer software, project management tools, and be adept at dealing with customers through good interpersonal relationships and negotiation skills.

• Fair amount of domestic and international traveling is expected as the regional coverage is South Asia, primary Job location would be Dow India Technology Center (DITC) in Navi Mumbai.

• Working closely with R&D, Marketing, Field Sellers and Dow Distributors, he/she will have responsibility for technically maintaining accounts where business has already been established and identifying opportunities for new application developments.
