Job Description

Primary Job Function:

Primary responsibility is to facilitate the achievement of the largest component of AbbVie US sales, margin and price for all branded products focusing on the management and maintenance of the Market Access Contracting operations and rebate processing associated with: Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs).

The position is responsible for supporting the objectives of the Market Access organization by managing the creation, maintenance, and management of the commercial rebate payment process validations, consistent with established contracting terms and formulary policies. This position is also responsible for managing the analysis, summarizing ongoing disputes, and reporting on the value of rebate claims recaptured via the center of excellence.

The incumbent is responsible for identifying, establishing, developing, and implementing appropriate processes to maintain rebate payment accuracy and contract compliance for AbbVie.

Core Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Initiate process and provide Payer analytics invoice to invoice across clients/pharmacies w/ comparative KPI’s

  • Development brand by brand utilization profiles to identify risk/opportunity regarding formulary access barriers

  • Fully burdened GTN awareness at a client level, pharmacy dispensing profiles, 340b risk, copay demand (max/accm/HDHP)

  • Codify client detail to allow comparability/traceability across payers and enhance communication with MA RAMs

  • Establish timing, content, and KPI’s for ongoing reporting to KAMs/Leadership teams

  • Manage relationship with IQVIA, MMIT, MA MAT support team to ensure alignment and awareness of formulary access issues/opportunities

  • Produce tracking and monitoring of disputes, wins/losses, financial contribution over time.

  • Monitors rejections/reversals and field feedback on formulary status and access compliance

  • Monitor rebate invoicing and ensure contract compliance, negotiate disputes, and processes settlement payments

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

Manage staff of one Finance Lead/Senior Financial Analyst.

Position Accountability/Scope:

Manage the coordination and preparation of payer invoicing verses payments processed to provide ongoing awareness to finance leadership; (i) ensuring that payments are processed within contract terms; (ii) ensuring that identified disputes are recaptured and elevated to payers; (iii) ensuring that all Gross to Net benefits and dispute opportunities have had appropriate level of review with management, OEC and legal prior to issuing to account when required. Recommend contracting strategies on new agreements and contract renewals based on historical disputes. Support account managers and serve as a subject matter expert with external customer dispute resolution. Build an effective network within Pricing and Contracting and across marketing and sales, AbbVie finance and legal department. Assist with analysis and evaluation of Market Access contracts, including analysis of utilization and market share data for rebate agreements and purchase data for discount contracts to identify potential risks/opportunities.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

7+ years of progressive Accounting/Finance.

  • Function independently and provide the leadership required to negotiate change/compromise to drive the business forward to reach the intended goals

  • The ability to interact with and support senior level management and to partner effectively and independently in a matrix organization.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, planning and decision-making skills.

  • Adapt at analyzing and summarizing data from multiple sources.
