About the Role

We are seeking a talented head of news editor to help drive the EG news business forward. We are passionate about ensuring that we deliver breaking news, actionable insights and business-enhancing intelligence to the UK commercial real estate market on a daily basis.As EG news editor, you will be responsible for running a daily breaking news service. Ensuring our online news portal is full of the core news content required to enable the EG audience to keep up to date with relevant information.Key delivery times for online content should be between 7am and 10am and 3pm and 5pm to reflect our peak traffic times. As well as managing a team of news reporters, the news editor is expected to lead by example as the “star reporter”, delivering numerous exclusives across the week.The core focus for online news content should be around exclusive deals – leasing, investment and funding, corporate activity – M&A, financial results, strategy, people and planning and policy scoops.

Responsibilities

• Running targeted news meetings and set clear goals for reporters to deliver to daily deadlines.

• Setting a daily news agenda for the team and led by example delivering their own news stories.

• Engaging with senior leadership to discuss news story development into deeper analysis.

• Engaging with core research team to enable enhancements to news and analysis with supplementary data as and when appropriate.

• Ensuring news homepage is updated at least three times a day to deliver a “daily newspaper” feel for readers.

Requirements

• Experienced news journalist

• Possess high standards and attention to detail.

• Demonstrate exceptional people skills.

• Display curiosity and a healthy level of competitiveness.

• Possess solid reporting, writing and editing skills.

• Have experience of media law and libel.
