Emerson Network Engineer (Contractor) in Escazú, Costa Rica

  • Design, document and implement connectivity solutions to meet business requirements whilst maintain Emerson security posture and standards

  • Segmented WAN using multiple VRFs with Palo Alto/Fortigate firewalling to control inter-VRF traffic flow

  • Global WAN including the use of MPLS, IPSec and SD-WAN

  • Experience with cloud connectivity and cloud integration into an enterprise network

Principle functional responsibilities

  • Conduct lab testing and complete detailed transition plan including details of changes, risks and rollback plan for integration activity

  • Design, staging, configuration, implementation, and support for specific WAN installations and network changes

  • Work as part of a wider team on the integration or divestiture of other companies into the Emerson network

  • Provide our operations group with critical issue support when required

  • As required work to evaluate specific engineering requirements and design, test, document an optimal solution

  • Participate in data center related projects that require networking input/solutions

  • Participate in major incidents to aid resolution

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Alternatively, commensurate work experience in lieu of degree.

  • Fluent in English

Experience

  • Very good background in designing and implementing Cisco WAN and switching solutions in an enterprise environment

  • Experience with large-scale network deployments including the use of multi-VRF

  • Experience architecting and designing routing and firewalling solutions

  • Solid grasp of the different elements of an enterprise network and inter-dependence between them

  • Experience working with business personnel to identify business challenges and providing solutions to those challenges

  • Experience with designing and implementing VRF based segmentation

  • Should have a solid understanding of process, candidate should be able to follow process or improve or create new process where it does not exist or may be beneficial

  • Deep knowledge of networking and security in a data center environment, particularly with Cisco, Palo Alto, and F5

  • Experience of SDN Architectures, ideally Big Switch (now Arista) Big Cloud Foundation (BCF) or Cisco ACI

  • Superb communication/documentation skills

Required:

A minimum of seven (5) years’ networking experience to include the following:

  • Cisco networking hardware configuration including and core/distribution layer infrastructure

  • Switching experience including data centre

  • Firewalling ideally both Cisco and Palo Alto

  • Switching and routing

  • Extensive experience of BGP in an enterprise environment

  • Detailed TCPIP knowledge

  • Experience designing and implementing highly resilient networks

  • Segmentation solutions using Cisco hardware

  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills

  • Data centre networking experience
