Who will you be working with?

Wabtec’s Digital Intelligence Signaling & Systems Project Management team is recognized as an industry leader in the successful delivery of complex integrated system projects, involving signaling, train control, communications, and back-office solutions with a strong focus on project execution, project management, schedule adherence and customer satisfaction.

How will you make a difference?

As a Wabtec Program Manager, you have the opportunity to make a difference in our customer’s experience in working. As a Program Manager you will be responsible for overall program execution as you lead a cross functional team to exceed our customer’s expectations and present recurring program updates to internal and customer executives. The Program Manager oversees commercial and technical delivery of complex multisystem projects. This position has overall program responsibility within a matrixed organization.

What do we want to know about you?

You must have:

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field

  • 5 years’ experience in Project/Program Management

  • 5 years’ experience in railway industry (Signals, Communications, OCS, Traction Power)

  • Proven experience in project / program management within a matrixed organization

  • Experience with program planning/management systems/tools; Particular emphasis on capacity planning, scheduling, budget, and execution

  • Proven experience in managerial and technical communication

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent computer skills – for example Windows Suite

  • Ability to obtain Road Worker Protection and e-RAILSAFE System Contractor Certification

  • Valid Driver License

We would love it if you had:

  • PMP and/or PRINCE II certification

  • Strong financial background

What will your typical day look like?

In this role, you will work across a matrixed organization to lead a multi-disciplined engineering team, technical managers, and system integrators in the execution of these projects with a focus on Coordination of internal resources and third parties/vendors in the execution of the project to ensure project is delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage programs to deliver on time, within budget, meet revenue/margin targets and meet contractual obligations.

  • Develop cost, revenue, and payment plans to achieve business objectives

  • Adhere to customer and industry standards/specifications, while keeping within Wabtec’s quality standards

  • Manage multisystem engineering tasks with a focus on delivering a totally integrated system within a matrixed organization utilizing various internal Wabtec and external resources.

  • Lead efforts to identify risks, develop plans and apply countermeasures to improve our position.

  • Communicate issues and opportunities – Include plans to resolve

  • Manage contract, project scope, risk, and Change Orders (CO)

  • Respond to CO by overseeing the entire bid effort - resource requirements, schedule, risk, cost, price and negotiation.

  • Optimize customer relationships through program life cycle. Foster long-term, customer centric relationships.

  • Responsible for development of high-quality written reports / presentations for management and customer reviews.

  • Lead resource, Wabtec management and customer reviews - project status, risk management, schedule, budget, performance to plan, etc.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

While remote candidates will be considered, preference will be given to local employees that can report into one of the following Wabtec Engineering offices: Pittsburgh PA; Jacksonville FL; Fort Worth TX, Denver CO, Chicago IL, or Edmonton (Canada). This position will require up to 25% travel.

The salary range for this role is between $75,300 - 130,000 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
