Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed designs and technical drawings of mechanical equipment such as conveyors, augers, holding tanks, hoppers etc.... Your expertise in CAD software and mechanical engineering principles will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy and functionality of our designs.

We also offer the opportunity to see your design progress from concept to installation by having you assist in the shop as needed. This could include hands-on tasks such as drilling and cutting materials.

Some travel is required to gather field data and meet with project stakeholders. A company vehicle will be provided when travel is required.

Duties:

- Develop detailed designs and technical drawings for mechanical systems and components using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion and Navisworks

- Create general arrangements for fabrication and conceptual drawings

- Update record drawings and properly document drawings for record purposes

- Interpret customer drawings/sketches

- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to understand project requirements and specifications

- Conduct research to gather necessary information for design projects

- Perform calculations and analysis to ensure design feasibility and compliance with codes and standards

- Create 2D animations to demonstrate the functionality of mechanical systems

- Prepare documentation, including technical reports, manuals, and specifications

- Review and revise designs based on feedback from clients or project managers

- Collaborate with other process holders, including project managers and client representatives to ensure accurate implementation of designs

- Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices in mechanical design

- Willingness to take ownership of a drawing/design. If you created a drawing or design a piece of equipment, you are expected to own it and follow through with it until completion, unless told otherwise.

- Must be competent, professional, responsible and have great work ethics.

Requirements:

- 2.5 Year Technical Associated Degree in Drafting and Design or comparable work experience.

- Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer or similar role

- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion and Navisworks

- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices

- Familiarity with codes and standards relevant to mechanical design

- Excellent technical writing skills for creating reports, manuals, and specifications

- Ability to perform calculations and analysis for design feasibility

- Mid-to-advanced computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite programs

- Excellent communication skills

- Ability to adapt and work under pressure and with dynamic timelines

- Experience with tools such as wrenches, grinders, cutting torches, welders etc.... is a plus.
