Job Description Summary

The Business Program Managers (BPM) are lead strategists at GE Vernova Advanced Research that link GE Vernova Tier 2 Businesses with Advanced Research to help leverage the strengths of Advanced Research for business growth through product and technical differentiation. The BPM for Vernova’s Power businesses will be responsible for the relationship between Advanced Research, Nuclear, Gas Power, Steam and Hydro for technology and product management.

GE Vernova’s Advanced Research business is the central innovation engine for GE’s portfolio of energy businesses, which will be unified under one banner called GE Vernova. The research organization is made up of 250+ researchers representing virtually every major scientific and engineering discipline. Collectively, they are driving major research programs and initiatives to decarbonize power, accelerate renewables, and promote electrification and the creation of a 21st century grid fit to power a zero-carbon energy future.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

As a BPM you will:

  • Drive alliance between Advanced Research and the Business; ensure vitality of existing technology programs while creating new relationships across the business; champion Business needs, urgency, and general business situation to Advanced Research

  • Define the product & technical differentiation roadmap/strategy with the business technology and product management leaders.

  • Initiate and lead Session T activities in cooperation with engineering and product management.

  • Drive alliance between Advanced Research and the Business; ensure vitality of existing technology programs while creating new relationships across the business; champion Business needs, urgency, and general business situation to Advanced Research

  • Prioritize & drive adoption of critical technologies and innovations from Advanced Research

  • Drive program accountability: ensure execution on key customer projects; identify and facilitate cross-lab tradeoffs as required; ensure key customer deliverables are met

  • Identify key Advanced Research technical competencies vital to the business and work with Advanced Research technical leadership on resource planning and to identify and apply key internal and external technologies

  • Understand the Business Product Portfolio and drive technical programs that improve margins & share for the business

  • Own the Advanced Research Power business project portfolio, ensuring projects are resourced and funded.

  • Integrate Government projects where business involvement is critical to their success. Support development of commercialization strategies to enable winning proposals.

  • Utilize models to link physics to customer value and prioritize research investment

  • Leverage the industry ecosystem to anticipate and plan for disruptions

  • Ensure Advanced Research’s vitality in business’ growth, acquisition, new venture and quality initiatives; value-add partner in the Product Technology Planning processes; ensure Advanced Research technology a vital strategic partner in business planning process

  • Host internal and external visitors… enable Power, Advanced Research and partners see the future through collaborative engagements

Qualifications/Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field

  • Minimum 10 years proven technology / product management experience with at least 5 in the Power business

  • Ability to travel to Niskayuna, NY to support business needs

  • Demonstrated capacity to develop technology / product management solutions & proposals in a fast paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong project generation and management skills essential

  • Multi-tasking, self-organizing, planning, and crisis management skills are critical to interacting with the business; must be able to deal with dynamic priority setting environment

  • Influence, facilitation, and negotiation skills; boundary-less/solution-focused approach

  • Must be 18 years or older

Desired Characteristics:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or science equivalent preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills a must: presence, high credibility, quick learner, and ability to develop relationships; presentation, communication, and negotiation skills required

  • Work experience as a GE Power employee in the Engineering/Technology function

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

The salary range for this position is $205,000 - $250,000USD, anually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
