Amazon Cabling Infrastructure Engineer in Mumbai, India

Description

We at Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (‘ADSIPL’),are looking to hire a highly motivated, best-in-class cabling infrastructure engineer to join our growing team within its infrastructure operations. The candidate will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and to develop innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand.

Key job responsibilities

Act as an escalation point for all CI and Late Binding (LB) related issues across the cluster.

· Project manage the installation of fibre and copper connectivity, inclusive of vendor bid analysis, vendor allocation, purchase ordering (PO) and invoicing.

· Create and deploy new standards for network and infrastructure cabling installations.

· Oversee the installation and deployment of all cabling infrastructure, brick builds, fusion racks, corp connections and late binding across the cluster.

· Ensure all safety and security related procedures are adhered to by Amazon staff and vendors alike.

· Ensure all projects are completed to schedule while ensuring the highest standards are met at all instances.

· Provide training and mentoring to less experienced Engineers and Technicians within the Infrastructure Delivery organization.

· Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience as required.

· Manage the provision of and performance to operational performance metrics.

· Participate in hiring, staffing and development strategies for the cluster and the region.

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Diploma/Graduation in a technical field or equivalent practical experience

  • 4-8 years of project management experience or operations planning experience

  • 4-8 years’ experience with physical network infrastructure deployment and troubleshooting

  • 4-8 years’ experience with network cabling (fiber optic & copper)

  • English language communication ability

  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and network cabling.

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, displaying excellent time management skills and the ability to follow direction.

  • Able to work at heights or use ladders for continued periods

  • Have strong attention to detail, maintain high quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Substantial background in large scale datacentre network implementations and support.

  • Knowledge of Copper and Fiber Optic testing methodologies.

  • Ability to read basic layout drawings and floorplans.

  • Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CITY & GUILDS Cabling cert or equivalent).

  • Previous experience working in a Data Center environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management).
